The Diggers Gives Burdekin Sixty Thousand Reasons To Smile

Harbord Diggers has once again shown its ongoing support for the Northern Beaches community with the annual Mounties Group Charity Race Day held last Thursday 24 August, raising more than $60,780 for local charity, The Burdekin Association.

Mounties Group, the owners of the iconic Freshwater club, held its fifth annual Race Day at Hawkesbury Race Club which raised a total of $121,658 split between Northern Beaches organisation, The Burdekin Association and Western Sydney community group, CORE Community Services, whom both support local youth.

Fifty percent of the profits, representing $60,780 was donated to The Burdekin Association who provide support, accommodation and intervention for homeless and at-risk young people on the Northern Beaches.

Harbord Diggers General Manager, Dale Hunt said, "Having donated to many causes over the years, we wanted this year's race day to highlight the work of local organisations who are working to support our troubled and homeless young people and their families," said Mr Hunt.

"We are proud to support The Burdekin Association who strive for young people to have a safe and secure home and access to opportunities available in the community," he added.

"This overwhelming donation from Mounties Group of more than $60,000 will be hugely beneficial for The Burdekin Association," said Ms Gordon.
