Bold and Brilliant Ballets Broadcast on the Big Screen

This December, Event Cinemas in Macquarie, Cronulla, Bondi Junction, Castle Hill & Burwood, will exclusively screen two of Marius Petipa’s ballets - La Bayadère and The Nutcracker as part of the Royal Opera House 2018/19 Live Cinema Season.

Set in India, Marius Petipa’s La Bayadère (9 and 12 December 2018) tells the story of a noble warrior betrothed to a princess but in love with a temple dancer. The famous moonlit ‘white act’ – the Kingdom of the Shades – is a corps de ballet highlight, starring Australian dancer Steven McRae.

Timeless classic The Nutcracker (22, 23 and 24 December 2018) will also screen. The magical Christmas adventure and Tchaikovsky’s ravishing score perfectly conveys the magic of Clara’s adventure with her enchanted Nutcracker.

Audiences in Australia, will never be far from a performance at the Royal Opera House. This forms part of the Royal Opera House’s celebrations of ten years of cinema broadcasting in 2018 and of selling more than one million cinema tickets worldwide during the 2017/18 Season.

All Wednesday sessions will include complimentary morning tea. Tickets cost $20 for adults, $18 for concessions, $102 for a multi pass to six titles.
