What's Happening With The Diggers
A new video has been released showcasing what can be expected from the $160 million Mounties Group development on the site of the Harbord Diggers.
COVERED. details the future look and next stage of this multi-million dollar complex.
The new precinct will offer the finest restaurants, bars and outdoor areas, paired with access to fitness and aquatic facilities, wellbeing services, a long day childcare centre and one of the most unique retirement communities to be developed in Australia.
General Manager of Harbord Diggers, Dale Hunt explains that all services and facilities at the new Harbord Diggers have been designed to encapsulate the best for the Northern Beaches community.
“Essentially, we had a blank sheet of paper for the redevelopment of our unique site and with the support of the community, chose this intergenerational model as we wanted to develop a place for people of all ages with a legacy of giving back and making a difference.
The new Harbord Diggers will be a place that offers the whole family something different every day, where locals can explore, meet, gather and enjoy,” says Mr Hunt.
Working with the site’s architects, the Mounties Group developed a video providing insight into the new layout and style of venue. The footage realistically depicts the interior design of the new venue, common areas and the luxury apartments that are part of Watermark Freshwater.
Harbord Diggers is due to close for around six months as the project kicks into gear. But before the November 1 closure, there is a full calendar of events planned.
The Diggers temporary fitness venue, Gfitness Freshwater, will trade as usual and Harbord Diggers sister venue Manly Bowling Club, will also remain open.
All members who have Harbord Diggers as their club of origin will receive a 12-month extension on their Mounties Group membership, and all club benefits and rewards will be available at all six of the other Mounties Group clubs including Manly Bowling Club during the closure period.
Stage 1 of the Harbord Diggers redevelopment includes the new club facilities and hospitality venues, Explore & Develop Freshwater childcare centre and the majority of the Watermark Freshwater apartments.
The opening of Stage 1 is due to begin from February 2018 with Explore & Develop Freshwater and Watermark Freshwater, followed by the new club hospitality precinct expected to launch in April/May 2018. Stage 2, which includes the fitness and aquatic centre and remaining residences, is planned for completion in late 2019.
