A global finance career and a passion for finding the right life, work balance for herself and her clients, is what drives Manly mortgage broker Janine Wade.
She tells COVERED. why every day has its own reward.
Mortgage broker and owner of Ikaya, Janine Wade believes her business is about more than just solving financial questions for people.
“It’s a personal affair. Clients who trust you enough with their finances will inevitably trust you with their personal struggles too,” she explains.
Over the last 18 years, she has gained experience both in Australia and in London, working for and with some of the market leaders in both mortgages and wealth management, before starting her own business - Ikaya.
“I realised that to be truly in the position to help your clients, you need to be balanced yourself. I have worked to improve my own wellbeing in order to tend to my clients and staff to the best of my abilities.
“The results speak for themselves, with over 55 referrals in my first year of operation. I have been humbled by the number of lives I’ve been able to contribute to. My clients come from a range of backgrounds, including first home owners, property investors or next time buyers. I’m based in Manly with most of my clients in Sydney and a few interstate,” Janine explains.
She says her experience of working in all the different aspects of the mortgage world, both as a broker and managing administration teams, as well as working as a business development manager for several large UK lenders and insurance providers, led to her deciding she wanted to create a better offering for her clients and a healthier, more flexible and supportive environment for her own team.
“My objective with Ikaya is to surpass the expectations of my clients. To create a company that supports, engages and motivates my team to fulfill their own life goals whilst providing efficient, effective and creative finance solutions to our clients,” she says.
Janine currently owns four investment properties and has two blocks of land which are going to be built on. But she says that being plunged into a debt crisis after losing her job during the GFC in 2008, taught her about the consequences of not making the right financial decisions.
Her personal experience means she is adamant about helping customers find the most suitable product and making the safest choice to achieving their dream.
“I have access to over 45 lenders. We hold the clients’ hands through the entire process and educate them as best as possible. We also manage their expectations from the word go and ‘set the scene’ for the process.
We never overpromise and under deliver,” she adds.
Her personal drive to find a balance to her own life with regards to health, wellbeing, finance and the classic work, life balance, is at the very core of Janine’s work ethic and personal ambitions. And she wants the same for each and every one of her clients.
