Manly’s Waterfront perfection celebrates 10 years

In 10 short years, Hugos Manly has positioned itself as the premier bar and dining experience for all occasions.
With their signature timber and leather styling, extensive wine and cocktail list as well as an award- winning menu, there really is no better
place to spend a lazy afternoon than eating and drinking with friends and family here at this iconic harbour venue.

When I popped in to see Dave Evans, Managing Director, in early December, the team were gearing up for another busy lunch trade. If you have been in the hospitality game, as I have myself, you notice all the little things that must come together to create a perfect experience. The locals will tell you that Hugo’s attention to detail and exceptional service ensures the ultimate day or night out.

Hugos Manly is what you call the total sum of all these little things working seamlessly in conjunction with what must only be described as a world class view over Manly Cove. Also spoilt for choice with an extensive wine and cocktails list, you can sip away while you watch the world and ferries cruise by.

Upon arriving to the venue, you are greeted by two lovely front-of-house concierges who arrange for you to be taken to your seats. The design of the restaurant space with its drop-down side windows opens the whole restaurant up to the superb views so there’s not a seat in the house that doesn’t have a rock star vantage point. On this note, this is also the place for celebrity spotting, from actors, surfing royalty to Home and Away stars. It’s not only a spectacular spot to see and be seen, but your tastebuds will be taken on a sensory culinary adventure of its own.

Head chefs Tal Amiray and Bob Mellor spearhead their contemporary Italian cuisine and every dish is infused with their love and passion to create the best of the best for you. From the freshest seafood starters such as oysters and Hiramasa Kingfish carpaccio with avocado, radish, black caviar lathered in a spicy citrus dressing to hearty mains like their Spaghettini pasta with Queensland Spanner crab, sun-dried tomatoes, chilli, garlic, coriander and eschalot, their finest quality Wagyu sirloin and a large range of mouth-watering pizzas, you will be planning your next dining experience here before it’s even over. You can be sure that before you’ve had your last bite of their House-made Trio Gelato of Fig and pistachio, Belgian chocolate & espresso for dessert, you’ll be left wanting more and that’s a hallmark trait of an exceptional world-class restaurant. •
