Home Loans For The Self-Employed
Self-employed residents on the Northern Beaches may be missing out on buying their own home because they believe it’s not possible or overly complicated. But RAMS Home Loan Centre in Mona Vale can simplify the process and do the hard work.
Securing a home loan is an involved process and for the self-employed it can be even more complex with some people believing they do not have the right documents and paperwork.
But Scott Cheetham, Principal of RAMS Home Loan Centre Mona Vale, says that being self-employed and qualifying for a home loan does not have to be challenging.
“The key for self-employed customers is to be prepared, to do your research and to speak with a home lending expert.
“The first thing to focus on is getting your finances in order. At RAMS we’ve developed five simple steps to follow which should help you along the way,” adds Mr Cheetham.
TIPS TO SIMPLIFY THE HOME LOANS PROCESS
Know your business: It’s important you know key financial figures including your current income, net profit, expenditure and future projections.
Check your credit file history: Run a credit file report on your personal and business credit file history.
Work out your Loan to Value Ratio (LVR): The LVR is your loan amount shown as a percentage of the market value of the property you want to buy. The percentage that lenders are willing to accept will vary.
Keep track of cash flow: Lenders will look at your personal and business cash flow to analyse your ability to make loan repayments.
Collate supporting documentation: It’s good to get together some of the supporting documentation you may need prior to your appointment to support your loan application.
RAMS recognises that many Australians are self-employed business owners and specialises in taking these factors into consideration when reviewing a customer’s ability to meet home loan repayments.
RAMS was awarded Best Self-Employed Lender 2017 at the annual Australian Lending Awards, acknowledging leading service in the industry.
