Gala Ball Raises $140,000 For Homeless Women

Manly Women’s Shelter raised a massive $140,000 at its Annual Gala Ball on Saturday, in aid of homeless women on the Northern Beaches.

More than 220 people attended the sold-out masquerade ball at Manly Pavilion, with funds far exceeding the initial target of $100,000.

Manly Women’s Shelter President Julia Lever thanked all donors, sponsors and supporters for their ongoing support.

“Your generous contributions are helping to keep our doors open and to provide a safe space for homeless women on the Northern Beaches,” Mrs Lever said.

“It costs up to $500,000 each year just to keep our doors open, so we are incredibly grateful for the ongoing support we receive from the community."

Manly Women’s Shelter is a non-profit organisation funded through corporate sponsorship, private foundations, Council grants and ongoing contributions from generous individuals.

The Shelter’s 2017 sponsors include the Fussell Family Foundation, Mary Alice Foundation, Perpetual Trustees, Oz Harvest, MM+J Architects, Balgowlah Lions, Wo-Manly, The Sisterhood, Rotary Club of Manly and Hire a Hubby Northern Beaches.
