Home Comforts

A home away from home is what every parent wants for their child when it comes to choosing a long day care.

Community Kids at Westfield Warringah Mall, in Brookvale, offers that and so much more. COVERED. stepped in to sample the delights of day care.

At Community Kids they believe children learn best in a loving and supported environment. They strive to work in partnership with children, families, educators and the community to create a safe and secure learning environment where everyone is valued and respected.

The staff recognise that learning happens in many different ways and aim to provide opportunities to discover, imagine, create and challenge learning and to develop positive and strong relationships within the partnership.

Alana Wylie says, ““We aim to create a welcoming and open environment where children take opportunities to scaffold and challenge their developing skills while giving them independence to create their own learning and meanings of the world around them.”

With open spaces, tall ceilings and a large outdoor area, the centre is able to create multiple learning spaces with an emphasis on the individual learning interests of each child.

The vegetable and herb garden is a source of fresh food for the centre’s chef and an important element for the children as they learn how to care for their environment while having fun with friends.

The centre’s central position enables Community Kids, Brookvale, to explore the local community with regular excursions to the library, post office and even the odd trip to Bunnings.

With the introduction of French classes and visits from local emergency services, incursions are also a vital element of the children’s learning. The centre also holds charity events and special calendar days creating positive partnerships with the families.

Alana adds, “As an established centre with familiar staff, family involvement is a key component to our multicultural environment.

“Parents are openly welcomed to share their skills, interests, hobbies and heritage and be a part of their child’s learning journey.

“We promote and encourage each family’s ideals and use these to bring them to life within the service setting giving children the opportunity to bring their home life in and expand it within our service. “
