SuGarfish Reigns Supreme

New kids on the block SuGarfish, stole the title and the show at the recently-held COVERED. Cocktail Bar Battles.

The bar within Garfish restaurant is taking cocktail drinkers on the Northern Beaches by storm.

Mixologist Kuba took out the top spot with SuGarfish winning first place in the four-round competition and Kuba also winning first prize when the top three teams battled it out for best cocktail at the finale.

Kuba consistently scored well in the competition held at Havan Beach, Sugar Lounge, Donny’s Bar and Gio’s in Harbord Diggers. He faced stiff competition from the venues as they rose to the challenge of mixing at least three cocktails each week.

Kuba said, “It was so great to win, I didn’t expect it and the competition was a lot of fun and a lot of work.

“We did lots of thinking about the cocktails and a lot of preparation before the competition. I could hardly sleep on the Sunday night before the Monday night rounds of the Bar Battles.”

Kuba has been in the hospitality industry for 15 years, starting out making cocktails but then turning his hand to various roles before starting at Garfish two years ago.

He believes the secret to SuGarfish’s success… “We always use premium spirits and a lot of the syrups and citruses we make inhouse too while the juices are cold pressed to order.”

Looking out over Manly Wharf, SuGarfish boasts breathtaking views, an array of wines, beers spirits – and, of course, cocktails, as well as tasting plates.

Now SuGarfish has firmly established itself as a first class cocktail venue amid the competitive lineup to be found on the Northern Beaches.
