Setting Eco Standards

Peninsula paint company Colormaker not only caters for all your paint needs, this Brookvale based business specializes in a range of eco friendly inks.

COVERED. found out why artists, clothing designers, textile businesses and even high school students, are clambering for these innovative products.

The demand for these water-based inks, free from toxic chemicals, is global. Aside from fashion houses and artists, they are in demand from small textiles businesses, craft enthusiasts and high school students on the Northern Beaches.

Owner David Stuart, says, “Our PERMASET eco-friendly inks range – targets the Art & Craft market, people who screenprint, block print and hand paint with Permaset paints and inks at home, students working on their major works for their HSC, plus primary schools, tech colleges, universities and art colleges.

“They are also used by commercial screen printers, who print T-shirts, yardage, wall paper, posters etc on a commercial basis using inks. They deliver great colour and results but are safe to use and won’t harm the environment.”

The Permaset range includes Permaset Aqua inks for printing on fabrics and textiles, Permatone fabric inks which can be mixed together to match 950 PMS colours, and Permaprint Premium inks for printing on other substrates such as paper, cardboard, plastic, wood, Styrofoam and more.

They are 100% solvent free, water-based and low odour, and are therefore so much safer for printers and artists to work with than solvent based products.

There is a large range of colours including Glows, Metallics and Process colours and the Permaset process colours and the Permatone range have the much sought after approval of the Soil Association of the UK. This means they have successfully met the requirements of the Global Organic Textiles Standards (GOTS) for non-organic chemical inputs for use in organic textile processing.

The products covered by the Approval include Permaset Aqua Process Cyan, Permaset Aqua Process Magenta, Permaset Aqua Process Yellow and Permaset Aqua Process Black; plus the entire Permatone matching range.

Colormaker is delighted to be doing its bit for the environment and the company has also been sponsoring the FREE THE REEF campaign in Australia since late 2015.

The campaign uses the power of art and live screen printing to raise awareness about the threats to the Great Barrier Reef. Rallying business, artists and the community, it aims to strongly influence decision makers to create legislation which protects the reef from all negative human interference.
