Future for District Park Secured

Northern Beaches Council has secured the future of District Park in North Manly by endorsing negotiations to commence on a new 20-year lease for Warringah Golf Club.

At its monthly meeting last night, Council also endorsed a one-year lease extension of the existing licensees of the tennis, squash and futsal facilities to undertake further community consultation on the future of the North Manly Leagues Club and Warringah Recreation site.

Mayor Michael Regan said this was a good community outcome.

“Our intentions for District Park have always been to create an improved sporting and recreation experience for our community.

“Having been through an exhaustive process considering a range of options, including the former Administrator look to reduce the course to 9 holes, I am pleased to finally be able to provide long term surety to the Warringah Golf Club and its many members.

“Warringah Golf Club will stay, will remain 18-holes and we’ll have further discussions about the best options for the required new clubhouse.

“Extending the current licences on the tennis, squash and futsal site will also enable Council to go back out to the community over the next twelve months to consider the next steps for this area.

“I look forward to working with the community and all involved stakeholders as we move through the next phase of this important sporting and recreation precinct.”
