City life is chaotic at the best of times, so why not escape it for a blissful few days at Billabong Retreat? Only a stone’s throw from Sydney, you’ll learn simple skills to live a healthier and happier life on your return.
Billabong Retreat in Maraylya is a mere 45 minutes drive from Sydney CBD and is a place for its visitors to reconnect with nature, life within them, and around them.
“Billabong Retreat is a place to find peace of mind, contentment and discover inner wellness,” says their website.
“It is somewhere to rediscover the magic of life and find meaning, connection and purpose. It is a place
of heart and kindness.”
Stay in a treehouse overlooking the eponymous billabong and wake up amidst the soothing sound of the trees and birds. Eco certified, the retreat uses solar power, grey water, and is built from recycled materials.
The food is seasonal, locally sourced and organic. All wholefoods and plant-based, they believe that on average, people don’t eat enough vegetables. They want to show you just how yummy and nourishing it can be.
Connect mind, body and breath with a yoga retreat. Whether you’re a total rookie or a yoga flow pro, the yoga essentials program includes evening meditation and special workshops. You’ll find you have increased strength, balance and flexibility, reduced stress, a calmed mind and greater sense of purpose to everything you do.
Their mindfulness retreats, which are offered in three parts, are an in-depth exploration of the science of happiness. You’ll learn how to refine the habitual patterns of the mind to improve function and abilities through a deliberate and regular brain training practice.
In a time when we are busier than ever, it is so important to have time to rejuvenate your body and mind. The Rejuvenation Retreat explores ways in which we can cleanse the mind, body and emotions. Workshops will cover topics such as identifying harmful belief and thought patterns, cleansing breathing, meditation techniques and how to develop a regular practice. With one on May 12, this makes the perfect Mother’s Day gift.
The Wellness Essential Retreat explores health holistically and includes yoga movement classes, evening meditation, and nutrition talks and workshops. Specifically, the workshops focus on gut health and developing mind-body connection.
Did you know, calm and relaxed is our natural state of being? If you’re feeling the pinch of everyday stresses a little bit too much, maybe you’re in need of the Billabong stress relief retreat. You’ll pick up techniques to reduce stress, that you can use in your day to day life regardless of what’s going on around you. The workshops focus on the importance of relaxation, a lack of which can have a domino effect on other areas of life.
Slowing down and looking after yourself is key to reducing stress and living a happy, tranquil life. As you discover what self-care means in regard to your mind, body and spirit, you’ll come out of this retreat with a newfound understanding of the need for balance in your life. This includes a self-love workshop and an emotional care workshop, which covers the importance of the thoughts we think, the environments and relationships we are in, and the food we eat.
If the three day length of these retreats is too much time for you to carve out of your schedule, Billabong Retreat also offers day retreats. These are available on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays or Sundays. Your choice of a massage, facial or private yoga is scheduled between 9am and 2pm.
Billabong Retreat also offers massages, facials and reiki for calming the mind and relaxing the body, plus private consultations in yoga, meditation, mindfulness, naturopathy, hypnotherapy and kinesiology.
Sounds heavenly, hey? Well, you deserve it. •
