Learn the principles of styling in six-hour, hands-on practical workshops with TAFE NSW Visual Merchandising.
The secrets to this high demand industry that is quickly becoming the most popular profession in fashion and interiors will be unveiled to you. Stylists select the clothing, accessories, homewares, props and products for TV, film, social media platforms and published editorial features.
These unique, real-world workshops are taking place outside the classroom environment and in a brand new warehouse space in Brookvale, on Sydney’s Northern Beaches at Sabi Studio 17. A purpose built styling studio for hire, packed full of props, curiosities, homewares, fashion and fixtures.
TAFE NSW Senior Visual Merchandising teacher Natalie Coulter said, “Participants will join a small group to master the art of styling product using iPhoneography for social media, online platforms and digital marketing.
"They will also learn styling tips for decorating the home, styling for photography in fashion, food, homewares and interiors to build on current skills, develop portfolios, gain experience and style up a storm with like- minded souls in this very cool warehouse styling space.
“Our classes are aimed at everyone from the novice to the professional, who wants to upskill. They are also beneficial to business owners and operators curious about how to better present and promote their product online, via social media or within the retail space."
The first of these workshops will be held on April 21 from 9am to 4pm and will then continue to run the first Saturday of every month for 2018. The workshops are designed to bring community together and for like-minded people to harness their creative skills while learning from industry experts.
As part of the Styling workshops, TAFE NSW is also running Visual Merchandising skill set workshops at the same warehouse space. Visual Merchandising makes the store look better than it would without it, thus making a significant lasting impression on the customer.
These courses are designed for people who love shopping and retail and want to work creatively in the retail space. They are also great for retail business owners to maximise the aesthetic of a product with the intent to increase and maximise sales.
Tickets are priced at $150 per person and students need to enrol via tafensw.edu.au for the course. For further information contact Natalie Coulter on on 0425 313 943 or 9217 5152 or visit www.tafensw.edu.au
