The Oscars may be over but Northern Beaches residents can experience their own red carpet moment while raising much needed funds for local women in need. The Northern Beaches Women’s Shelter Glamour Gala will be held on Saturday 25 May 2019 at Manly Pavilion.
The black tie event will bring glitz and glam to the Beaches, with guests enjoying a delicious three course meal, live music and entertainment and live and silent auctions.
NBWS President Rosy Sullivan said the Shelter continues to rely on the generosity of the community at its cornerstone fundraising event.
“We cannot operate without the ongoing financial support of our community. Shelter begins with community, and we’re so grateful for the one we have here on the Northern Beaches,” Ms Sullivan said.
“Thanks to the generosity of our community we continue to provide a safe haven for women with nowhere else to turn.
“Homelessness does not discriminate and there are many causes, including domestic violence, drug or alcohol addiction, mental illness, family breakdown and financial hardship.
“NBWS has helped more than 400 women since we opened our doors in 2010, including 120 in 2018 alone. We have helped these women to rebuild their lives, with 90% of residents successfully transitioning back into the community with secure housing.”
NBWS provides crisis accommodation to hundreds of women each year, with trained and experienced welfare workers providing on-site support 24-hours a day, seven days a week. The Shelter provides access to medical care, counselling, education and employment assistance and other valuable support services.
