Get excited, Star Wars fans! Sydney’s Powerhouse Museum serves up its newest exhibition this November, and let us tell you, it’s a must see. Come face to face with 200 original objects from the popular sci-fi franchise. You might have to wait more than 12 months until the next Star Wars flick, but you can soothe your aching, Star Wars lovin’ heart with this unmissable exhibition until then.

You’ll see Yoda in the flesh and Darth Vader’s suit (yes, we’re serious!). The exhibition’s also interactive, and you’ll get to create your own Star Wars hero as you move through the experience. If you’ve ever felt as though you should be hanging out in a cantina somewhere on a remote planet, now you’ll be able to with the smart technology bracelet and headset: no force necessary.

Bookings essential, costumes optional, but no lightsabers. Sorry.

pomegranate and cherry with a clean textured finish.

Girls on Tap at Glen Street Theatre

Girls on Tap at Glen Street Theatre

image002 (1).jpg

Following their sold-out, standing ovation debut at Cabaret in the Glen in 2017, Sally Dashwood (So You Think You Can Dance) is leading the gang back to Glen Street Theatre to perform from Girls On Tap 14 - 16 February.

The award-winning femme fatales of tap, rhythm and song sure have something to say about women in the world today. From Broadway to Beyoncé, they pay homage to the past while keeping it fresh.

The expert choreography of creator Sally Dashwood crashes through stereotypes, challenges expectations and stamps out inequality with exceptional rhythm.

“I’m very excited to return to the Glen Street stage with Girls On Tap; a show that celebrates my love of tap dancing and equality,” says Sally.

I recognised the need for a female platform, something for young Aussie tap dancing ladies to look forward to. Girls On Tap is my answer to that: still masculine and uniquely Australian but with a fierce, feminine touch and plenty of sass!”

In 2017 when we premiered at Cabaret in the Glen at Glen Street Theatre it coincided with the launch of the #metoo movement.  Disappointingly, the theme is still just as relevant as it was then, and we still have so far to go.”

This high energy production proves that you cannot underestimate the collective power of song, dance and womanhood.

“What’s the outcome of all this noise we’re making? Well, our own hopeful prediction that the future is female. Who run the world? Girls, of course!” Ms Dashwood said.

Times : Thurs 8pm (Opening Night, ticket includes post-show drinks and canapes) Fri 8pm, Sat 2pm and 8pm
Price: Adults $55, Conc $51, 35 & under $35 & Children (16 & under) $32

The Very Hungry Caterpillar at Glen Street Theatre

image004.jpg

Eric Carle’s timeless classic, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, has made its way off the page and onto the stage – and is heading to Glen Street Theatre in December.

The critically acclaimed production features a menagerie of 75 enchanting puppets bringing to life four of Carle’s stories; The Artist Who Painted a Blue HorseMr. SeahorseThe Very Lonely Firefly and the star of the show, The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

Writer and illustrator Eric Carle said the performances will be enjoyed by many.

“I hope the colourful characters will bring comfort and joy to all who see the stories. It is uplifting to see such beautiful and cheerful works inspired by my characters. I hope my books – and this show – will inspire you and your imagination.” Eric Carle said of the show.

The show promises to excite, educate and entertain the whole family – just as Carle’s books are introductions for children to the world of reading and illustration, this immersive Australian production is an introduction for children to the magic of theatre.

This Australian made show will excite, educate and entertain new readers and first-time theatre-goers, while for those who grew up with these books will delight in experiencing one of the most popular children’s books ever written.
